Oct. 27, 2007

Texas A&M International University split two matches in Southwestern Tournament play on Saturday.

Austin College defeated TAMIU 3-1 in the day's first match before the Dustdevils bounced back for a 3-2 win over former Red River Athletic Conference rival Texas Wesleyan. TAMIU posted a 1-3 record in tournament play.

TAMIU (9-19) will conclude the regular season this week with three matches. The Dustdevils will play a non-conference contest at Huston-Tillotson on Tuesday before playing home Heartland Conference matches against Newman on Thursday and Panhandle State on Saturday.

The Dustdevils will take a 5-7 conference record into the final weekend of play. That mark is good for fifth place, one game behind St. Edward's (6-6 HC). The top four teams in the league regular season standings will qualify for the Heartland Conference Tournament, which will be held Nov. 9-10 at St. Mary's University.
