Texas A&M International University junior libero Madison Mojica has been named Heartland Conference Defensive Player of the Week for matches played for the week of Oct. 1-7.

Mojica's outstanding defensive play helped lead TAMIU to a 2-1 record for the week. She kept 95 of 96 reception attempts in play against Southwestern, St. Edward's and Texas A&M-Kingsville.

Mojica also totaled 85 digs (7.1 digs per game) and four service aces. She recorded a career-high 42 digs in last Tuesday's five-game win over Southwestern.
