Oct. 13, 2007 Dallas Baptist defeated Texas A&M International University 3-2 in Heartland Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Dallas. It was a marathon affair between the two teams with DBU prevailing 30-22, 43-45, 21-30, 30-28, 15-12. Lauren Secord led DBU (8-15, 3-5) with 25 kills and four blocks. The Patriots recorded 108 team digs with five players recording double-figure dig totals. Vickie Mundell led DBU with 51 assists while finishing second on the squad with 21 digs. Nicole Gipson led TAMIU (7-14, 4-5) with 23 kills and eight blocks. Madison Mojica led the Dustdevils with 31 digs. Ladys Montaño contributed 13 kills and a season-high 29 digs to the Dustdevil cause. With the loss TAMIU falls into fifth place in the Heartland Conference standings, a half game behind St. Edward's (4-4 Heartland). TAMIU continues its 11-match road swing with a pair of Heartland Conference contests next weekend. The Dustdevils will play at Incarnate Word on Friday and St. Mary's on Saturday. |
