Oct. 10, 2007 Texas A&M International University continued its winning ways with a 3-2 non-conference road win over Angelo State (6-14) on Tuesday night. The Dustdevils defeated the Rambelles 30-22, 22-30, 30-20, 27-30, 15-9. TAMIU (7-12) has now won six of its last eight matches. The win was the first of the season in six contests against a Lone Star Conference opponent. TAMIU entered the match a combined 0-5 against LSC foes Abilene Christian, Tarleton State, Texas A&M-Kingsville and Midwestern State. Ladys Montaño led the Dustdevils with 23 kills and a .306 hitting percentage. Madison Mojica led the team with 22 digs with Mary Koch contributing a team-high 43 assists. TAMIU finished with 15 team blocks with Nicole Gipson leading the way with five solo blocks. The Dustdevils have notched double-figure block totals in five straight matches. TAMIU returns to Heartland Conference play with contests at UT-Permian Basin on Thursday and Dallas Baptist on Saturday. The Dustdevils enter play this weekend tied for third in the conference standings with St. Mary's. Both teams stand with a 4-3 record in Heartland play. |
