Incarnate Word defeated Texas A&M International in Heartland Conference volleyball action on Thursday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. TAMIU won game one 30-27 but the Cardinals stormed back with 30-21, 30-17, 30-24 wins to take the match in four games. Brittany Smith and Nicole Gipson each recorded 14 kills in a losing effort for TAMIU. Freshman Danielle Gilley led the Dustdevils with 13 digs. Kim Kvapli had a huge night for UIW (10-6, 3-0 Heartland). She led the Cardinals with 23 kills and 16 digs. Hannah Werchan contributed a team-high 20 digs to the UIW cause. TAMIU (1-9, 1-2) returns to action on Saturday with a home game against St. Mary's. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m. |
