Texas A&M International University swept Heartland Conference opponent Incarnate Word in three games (30-26, 30-24, 30-25) on Tuesday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. It was Senior Night for six student-athletes playing their final home match for the Dustdevils. Three Dustdevils notched double-figure kill totals, with senior Eliza Cezario leading the way with 14 kills. Sophmore Michelle Castañeda finished with 13 kills and senior Juliana Gusmáo tallied 12 kills. Gusmáo led the squad with 15 digs followed by 14 digs for sophomore Madison Mojica. Senior Desiree Arredondo led the Dustdevils with 36 assists. TAMIU (24-4 overall) extended its winning streak to 12 matches and clinched a 2-0 season sweep of Incarnate Word with the easy win. The Dustdevils finish the season with a 10-2 record against Heartland Conference competition. TAMIU will close out the regular season next Tuesday with a road game against NCAA Division I opponent UT-Pan American. UTPA leads the all-time series between the two teams, 7-2, but TAMIU swept the Lady Broncs earlier this season in Laredo. |
