Texas A&M International defeated Lone Star Conference opponent Texas A&M-Kingsville (30-19, 30-17, 30-20) on Wednesday night at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building. Senior Juliana Gusmao, a transfer from Kingsville, turned in a strong performance against her old team. She finished with 17 kills and 10 digs. Senior Desiree Arredondo contributed 45 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Nicole Gipson finished with 11 kills and three blocks while senior Eliza Cezario contributed with 10 kills and three service aces. TAMIU finished with a .376 team hitting percentage with 12 service aces, six of them in the first game. TAMIU (21-4 overall) extended its winning streak to nine matches while also improving its all-time record against Texas A&M-Kingsville (8-20) to 6-1. TAMIU will play on the road this weekend against Dallas Baptist before returning home for its final home match of the season on Halloween night against Incarnate Word. First serve in the home finale is set for 7 p.m. |
