Texas A&M International University's progress in building a competitive softball program is not going unnoticed. On the heels of a three and a half game improvement in the Heartland Conference regular season standings and a deep run at the conference tournament, TAMIU has landed five student-athletes on the 2010 All-Heartland Conference Team.

Second-year head coach Scott Libby has been selected as Co-Coach of the Year after leading the Dustdevils to a fourth place Heartland Conference finish with a 14-7 league record.

The all conference team is selected by a vote of the league's head coaches. TAMIU more than doubles it number of all conference selections from last season, when two Dustdevils earned the honor.

Sophomore catcher Samantha Carrillo and junior first baseman Victoria Beltrán have been selected as first-team honorees.

Carrillo is an outstanding defensive asset who also finished with a team-leading .326 batting average. Beltrán finished amongst the conference leaders with 16 doubles, 12 home runs and 35 RBI while also contributing an 11-12 pitching record.

Junior center fielder Samantha García, junior utility player Clarissa Salinas and senior left fielder Briana Sánchez were selected to the second-team.

García and Beltrán are repeat all conference honorees, with García earning first-team and Beltrán earning second-team recognition last season.
