Texas A&M International University and 16th ranked West Texas A&M split a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at Lady Buff Yard in Canyon. WT took the opener 11-0 before TAMIU took game two 8-0, marking the first ever Dustdevil win over the Lady Buffs. TAMIU out-hit WT 11-5 in game two. Victoria Beltrán went 2-for-3 with five RBI. Her fourth inning grand slam pushed the Dustdevils to an 8-0 lead. The game ended after five innings due to the 8-run, run rule. Marina Vásquez (4-6) picked up the win after allowing no runs on four hits with four strikeouts and three walks. TAMIU (12-17) returns to action this weekend with a three-game Heartland Conference doubleheader at UT-Permian Basin. The Dustdevils and Lady Falcons will play a doubleheader on Friday and a single game on Saturday. |
