Samantha García scored on a sac fly by Clarissa Salinas in the fourth inning of the opener to tie the score 1-1. ASU retook the lead with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning before Rambelle starting pitcher Chelsea Nelson secured the win for the home team by limiting the Dustdevils to one hit, a two-out single in the seventh inning, the rest of the way.

TAMIU was limited to three hits, all singles, after ASU scored five runs on two hits and two Dustdevil errors in the bottom of the third inning to take a 6-5 lead.
