Last season Libby led the Dustdevils to a share of the regular season title, a Heartland Conference Tournament Championship and the program's first berth in the NCAA Division-II Tournament. The team wrapped up the 2011 season with an overall record of 32-29 and a conference record of 12-3. Four athletes were selected to the All-Conference team last season, including first team selections Victoria Beltran and Samantha Garcia and second team selections Alexis Gonzalez and Rochelle Nash. Nicole Lozano earned Greater San Antonio Player of the Year honors playing for Libby in 1998. Four of his student-athletes earned Texas Girls Association first-team All-State honors and three earned TGCA first-team Academic All-State honors. Prior to his strong run at Taft, Libby served as an assistant coach at Oliver Wendell Holmes High School during the 1996-97 season, helping lead the team to the state semifinals. Coach Libby got his start coaching girls' softball in the Northwest Softball League, where he would coach the Genesis team from 1996-99. Libby played and coached softball while serving in the United States Air Force from 1976-83. He played for current University of Tennessee coach Ralph Weekly on the Air Force Hawaii team from 1979-82. During that stint, Libby concurrently served as coach of the Security Police Squadron men's team at Wheeler Air Base.
