Dallas Baptist scored in the 83rd minute to escape with a 2-1 win over Texas A&M International on Saturday afternoon at Dustdevil Field. All scoring took place in the second half with DBU (8-4 overall) taking a 1-0 lead in the 50th minute on a goal by Mandy Gómez. TAMIU freshman Rachel Caranza would tie the score with a goal set-up by a Sandy Hernández assist in the 61st minute before Gómez scored the game-winner for the Patriots by putting the ball in the net at the end of a long breakaway run with seven minutes left in regulation. Freshman goalkeeper Mary Jo Hall registered seven saves for the Dustdevils. DBU out-shot TAMIU, 17-7. After playing three games in four days TAMIU (3-9) will take a week off before returning to action with a game against St. Edward¹s on Sunday, Oct. 15. |
