Dec. 20, 2007 Bolstered by an impressive first half Missouri-Rolla cruised to a 105-78 win over Texas A&M International University on Wednesday night in the opening round of the Lady Rattler Christmas Classic at St. Mary's University. UMR (5-1) led 56-32 at halftime after making 19 of 31 field goal attempts and nine of 13 three-point attempts during the opening 20 minutes of play. The teams played fairly even in the second half but TAMIU would get no closer than 19 points after trailing by 24 points at the break. Junior Jasmine June recorded her first double-double of the season, finishing with a team-high 20 points and 10 rebounds. Senior Nicole Gipson contributed 18 points and eight rebounds. TAMIU (3-6) will try to break a four-game losing streak tonight against Hillsdale College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Bill Greehey Arena on the St. Mary's campus. |
