Johnna Williams begins her first season as a Student assistant coach after playing two seasons for the TAMIU Women's Basketball Team. During her two seasons with the Dustdevils, the Prairieville, Louisiana native helped lead TAMIU to an 11-and-44 overall record and an 8-and-16 record against Heartland Conference opponents. Williams, who is the daughter of former NBA star John "Hotrod" Williams and Karen Williams-Reddix, played a key role in helping the Dustdevils qualify for back-to-back conference tournaments. The former center, who also played two seasons at Xavier University of Louisiana, averaged 12.2 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game during her two-year career, earning second team All-conference honors in her senior season. She led the Heartland Conference in field goal percentage and blocks and ranked second in the league in rebounding her senior season. She also set a single game school record grabbing 21 rebounds on two separate occasions. While at Xavier, she set a school record with 67 blocks as sophomore. Williams is a 2007 graduate of Dutchtown High School where she earned first team All-district honors her junior and senior years, she was also honorable mention All-State as a senior. She has three brothers, John, John-Francis and John-Paul Williams. |
