Nov. 25, 2009

Texas A&M International University has landed four student-athletes on the 2009 All-Heartland Conference Men's Soccer team. The four earn the honor after leading the Dustdevils to a third place finish in the Heartland Conference regular season standings for the second straight year. The All-Conference team is selected through a vote of the league's head coaches.

Two seniors, forward Roy Hernández and goalkeeper Luis Rincon, have been named to the first team while junior defenders Soamy Bautista and Julian Hierro have been named to the second team.

Hernández earns first-team honors for the second straight year after leading the team and tying for second in the final conference statistical rankings in both goals (7) and total points (17). Rincon was one of the top goalkeepers in the conference. He led the league in saves (6.35 per game) while finishing second in goals against average (1.04).

Bautista is a repeat second-team selectee after teaming with Hierro to anchor one of the top defenses in the conference. TAMIU finished second in the conference team statistical rankings in both goals allowed (21) and goals against average (1.11 per game).
