Final Stats

Incarnate Word defeated Texas A&M International University 1-0 in Heartland Conference action on Sunday night at Dustdevil Field. It was the season finale for both teams and the result reversed a 1-0 win for TAMIU over UIW on Oct. 16 in San Antonio.

Incarnate Word (9-7-3, 7-3 Heartland) finished with a decisive 18-4 edge in shots taken with TAMIU (6-9-3, 5-3-2) managing no shots on goal. Dustdevil senior goalkeeper Luis Rincon made 10 saves in his final game but a lack of offensive punch doomed any hopes of a win on senior night.

Jesus Cortez scored the game winner for the Cardinals on a mid-air shot into the goal from 10 yards out in the 81st minute.

TAMIU finishes the season in third place in Heartland Conference standings, finishing with five league wins for the second straight season.
