Oct. 23, 2009 Northeastern State edged Texas A&M International University 2-1 in non-conference action on Friday afternoon in Tahlequah, Okla. It was the sixth straight game decided by one goal for the Dustdevils, who now stand at 2-6 in one-goal games this season. TAMIU (5-7-2) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Oscar Suvias in the eighth minute but NSU (7-6) would record the come-from behind win on goals by Sam Vernalls in the 42nd minute and 56th minute. The game was evenly played with Northeastern State finishing with a 16-14 edge in shots taken. NSU goalkeeper Matt Murrell finished with six saves compared to four saves for Dustdevil keeper Luis Rincon. TAMIU returns to Heartland Conference action on Sunday with a road game at Newman. The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. kickoff. |
