Day one of the second Jack Brown Memorial Golf Tournament is in the books. Seven men's and three women's teams competed on what was a perfect day at the Laredo Country Club. Abilene Christian is in first place in the men's team standings with a 36-hole score of 592. Incarnate Word is in second place (609) and Colorado School of Mines in third place (611). Morgan Johnson (140) shot identical rounds of 70 to claim first place in the individual standings by two strokes over teammate Hilton Funk (142). TAMIU is in sixth place with a 652. Senior Andres Maymí is tied for sixth place at 148 strokes (75-73). UT-Brownsville is the team leader on the women's side with an 18-hole total of 352 strokes. Incarnate Word (362) is in second place and TAMIU (479) in third place. UTB's April Martínez shot a 78 to rank first in the individual standings by three strokes over Incarnate Word's Audrey Sitterly. Sophomore Bianca Vidaurri is TAMIU's individual leader, placing sixth at 92. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday with 18 holes each for the men and women. |
