Texas A&M International University has landed two student-athletes on the 2008-09 All-Heartland Conference Men's Basketball Team. The team, selected by a vote of conference head coaches, was released Tuesday evening.

Senior Derek Barnes was named to the second team and senior Sean Tucker was tabbed as an honorable mention selection. Barnes ends his career as a two-time All-Heartland Conference honoree, having earned honorable mention honors in his first campaign as a Dustdevil in 2007-08.

Barnes led team and ranked tied for seventh in the Heartland Conference with a 15.7 points per game scoring average this season. He ends his two-year career ranked fourth on the TAMIU career scoring list with 740 points. Barnes ranked in the top-10 of the Heartland Conference statistical rankings in assists, assists/turnover margin, free throw percentage and 3-pointers made per game.

Tucker ranked second on the squad and 13th in the conference with a 13.8 points per game scoring average. He ends his two-year career ranked fifth on the Dustdevil career list 678 points and sixth with 256 rebounds. Tucker tied Barnes for 3-pointers made this season (57), ranking in the top-10 of the conference statistical rankings in 3-point shooting percentage.
