Texas A&M International University men's basketball senior José Alicea has been named Heartland Conference Academic Athlete of the Week for Feb. 15-21.

Alicea already holds a bachelor's in fitness and sports from TAMIU and he is currently pursuing a master's in business administration. He is a two-time academic All-Heartland Conference selection.

Saturday's Senior Day game against St. Edward's will be the final home game of Alicea's career. He is the first four-year letterwinner for the Dustdevils and will conclude his career as the school record holder for games played.
