Dec. 28, 2007

Final Stats

North Texas cruised past Texas A&M International University 97-70 on Friday afternoon at the Super Pit in Denton. The loss to the defending Sun Belt Conference champions dropped TAMIU's all-time record against full NCAA Division I opponents to 0-10.

UNT (9-3) put the game away early. The Eagles never trailed, jumping out to a 34-7 lead en route to a 53-21 halftime lead.

TAMIU made only 6 of 32 field goal attempts in the first half with UNT making 16 of 39 attempts. The Eagles finished with a decisive 38-14 rebounded edge in the opening half.

TAMIU played better in the second half but got no closer than the final margin of 27 points. Junior Chris Swan scored 10 of his team-high 15 points in the second half.

TAMIU (3-4) returns to action this weekend at the Texas A&M-Kingsville Holiday Tournament. The Dustdevils will face Xavier (La.) on Saturday and Huston-Tillotson on Sunday. Both opponents are NAIA institutions.
