Texas A&M International University opened the second half with a 21-0 run en route to an 88-77 win over Sul Ross State on Tuesday night at the Kinesiology and Convocation Building. The amazing run turned a 45-34 halftime deficit into a 55-45 lead at the13:44 mark. Sul Ross State got to within two points, 68-66, on a free throw by Henry Flores with 5:47 remaining but TAMIU went on a 5-0 run to take a 71-66 lead less than a minute later. The Dustdevils finished the game with a 13-7 run over the last four minutes to stretch a 75-70 lead into the 88-77 final score. Chris Swan led TAMIU with 23 points. Derek Barnes made four three-pointers and finished with 18 points and a team-high seven assists. Tracy Johnson contributed three blocks. TAMIU (3-2) will return to action on Dec. 17 with a road game at Texas A&M-Kingsville. |
