Jan. 12, 2008 Sean Tucker contributed 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead Texas A&M International University to an 89-81 win over Panhandle State on Saturday night in Goodwell, Okla. The win snapped a five-game losing streak. TAMIU (4-7) led 38-37 at halftime before securing the win with a big second half. The Dustdevils took the lead for good on a jumper by Chris Swan at the 18:05 mark. The second half lead would stretch to 73-60 on a three-pointer by Tucker at the 7:58 mark. Panhandle State (7-6) went on a 19-9 run to cut the lead to 82-79 at the 2:51 mark but TAMIU finished the game with a 7-2 run. The 51-point second half was TAMIU's second-highest scoring half of the season, behind only a 54-point second half against Sul Ross State. The Dustdevils connected on 15 of 28 field goals and 18 of 24 free throw attempts in the second half. Derek Barnes finished with 21 points, Jerante Morgan 13 points and Ignacio García 11 points. Morgan also contributed three blocks, tying a season-high mark in that category. TAMIU will closeout a seven-game road swing on Tuesday at Houston Baptist. The Dustdevils will play their first home game since on Dec. 4 when Incarnate Word visits Laredo on Thursday. |
