Texas A&M International University junior Mike McGillivray has been named Heartland Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 26 - May 2. He shares the award with three others; Logan Clewes of Newman, Chris Pfau of Lincoln and Carl O'Neal of St. Mary's. McGillivray contributed a complete-game four hit shutout in a 3-0 win over league leading St. Mary's. He finished with a season-high eight strikeouts with only two walks allowed. All four St. Mary's hits were singles, with no two hits coming in the same inning. After allowing a leadoff single in the top of the fifth inning, McGillivray retired eight straight batters before a Rattler reached base on an infield error with two outs in the top of the seventh inning. The game ended, however, when McGillivray got leadoff hitter Josh McElroy to hit into a fielder's choice ground out. |
