Texas A&M International University's cross country teams finished in the middle of the pack at the Heartland Conference Championships on Saturday morning at Dallas Baptist University. The men finished in fifth place in the team standings for the second straight year while the women finished in sixth place.

The men had three top-20 finishes in the 8K race with Robert Coronado Jr. finishing in 12th place at 27:30, Raul Gil 15th at 27:52 and Antonio González 16th at 28:02.

Sophomore Marlene Gutíerrez earned All-Heartland Conference honors for the second straight year on the women's side with an eighth place finish in the 6K at 23:54. Gutíerrez finished 10th at the conference meet as a freshman.

TAMIU will next compete in the NCAA South-Central Region Championships on Nov. 7 at Abilene Christian University.
