Texas A&M International University's cross country teams returned to action on Saturday with the women participating in the Texas Lutheran Invitational and the men running against UT-Permian Basin in dual action after a heavy rain forced the cancellation of the TLU men's event.

The women finished in third place in the team standings, right behind Heartland Conference rival UT-Permian Basin. Marlene Gutíerrez led the Dustdevils with a 23:25 6K effort, good for second place. Amanda Salinas finished 11th with a 26:26 outing.

UTPB edged TAMIU 27-29 in the men's 8K dual. TAMIU runners claimed two of the top five spots against the Falcons with Robert Coronado Jr. placing second at 31:18 and Antonio González third at 31:22.

TAMIU will return to action next weekend at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic in Orlando, Fla.
