Associate Athletics Director

Dan Lathey was hired as Texas A&M International University's first associate athletics director in January 2002. Among his primary duties are serving as TAMIU's sports information director, game management supervisor and Maroon Club manager.

Lathey began his collegiate athletics career as a graduate assistant at Texas A&M-Commerce in the mid 1990s. He would go on to gain experience at Texas State, Cal State Northridge, the United States Air Force Academy and the American Southwest Conference before arriving in Laredo.

Lathey is involved in several community service projects, including serving as an advisory board member for the Salvation Army of Laredo and the Border Olympics. He has also organized benefits for various Veterans non-profit organizations, including a Student-Athlete Advisory Committee fund raising raffle for the Wounded Warrior Project.

A graduate of Mustang High School in Oklahoma, Lathey earned a bachelor's in radio/tv/film from Oklahoma State University and a master's in journalism from Texas A&M-Commerce. Prior to attending OSU he spent four years in the United States Air Force. Lathey enjoys camping, kayaking, college football and traveling in his free time.
